Governance Arrangements
The Governing Body of the school was reconstituted on 1st December 2014 and consists of the following members: The Headteacher, one Local Authority Governor, one elected Staff Governor, three elected Parent Governors, three Co-opted Governors and one Associate Governor.
Foundation Governors are appointed by the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales and these Governors have a particular role in overseeing the Christian ethos of the school.
The core strategic functions of the Governing Body are:
- To provide clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school;
- To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff;
- To oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.
The Governing Body works together as a team and shares responsibilities and tasks to ensure that statutory responsibilities are met and to provide full challenge and support for the Headteacher and the school. The Full Governing Body meets twice a term and in addition, the sub-committees considering different aspects of school life in greater detail, meet at least termly.
Roles of the main committees
Curriculum Committee
- To assist the Governing Body in fulfilling its school teaching and learning responsibilities in relation to the implementation of any nationally agreed curriculum and other associated courses;
- To assist the Governing Body to ensure the overall aim and focus of the school is to provide the highest quality of provision, both human and physical, to support the learning and development of students in school.
Finance, Staffing and Premises Committee
- To assist the Governing Body in directing the management of the school budget in support of the School Improvement Plan and ensure sound financial management practices;
- To assist the Governing Body in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities for all staff employed in the school and to generate the best possible professional environment, within which all staff can contribute to the raising of pupil performance and attainment;
- To assist the Governing Body to
fulfil its responsibilities in providing the best possible physical environment within which students learn and to ensure all the Governing Body’s statutory responsibilities for the health and safety of all students and adults on site are met.
Other committees meet as necessary to consider pupil discipline and staffing matters.
